While we're currently taking a break from hosting swaps, there are many options in Asheville to get your swap on! For those fellow swappers looking to rotate their wardrobe on the regular, here's our list of ongoing clothing swaps in Asheville.
If there's one you think we've missed, send us a DM on Instagram and we'll add it!
Emote
We've gotta start this list with Emote because they're bringing you a clothing swap EVERY MONTH. Their swaps are always free, and you don't have to bring clothes to take clothes. You bring clothes on the day of the event, as far as we know they don't do early drop off.
Definitely check out their Instagram for details about each swap as it approaches, because they'll share if the swap has a theme/focus like extended sizes (they've also done a costume swap!).
Leftover clothing from their swaps helps to stock their name your own price and mutual aid racks - awesome.
Black Mountain Clothing Swap
One of the longest running clothing swaps in the Asheville area, the Black Mountain Clothing Swap has been around for over ten years. They have a Facebook Group where they post about upcoming event dates as well as a related Facebook page, Community Clothing Closet.
Their events are typically hosted in the Black Mountain Public Library Education Room, and they accept children's clothing and have specific drop off dates ahead of the swap.
AVL Fatties Plus Swap
Asheville Fatties is a local social club for fat people to help lift each other up, connect and share resources. They've hosted plus swaps in the past, and are likely to have one annually! Their Instagram page is the best place to keep an eye out for upcoming events.
Retro Coffee
The cutest coffee shop on Sweeten Creek Road (they have the best seasonal specials, trust me) host regular clothing swaps as just one of the fun regular events they host (they do collage days, book swaps, seriously if you're not in the loop, get in the loop!).
They changed ownership in 2025, with new owner Carrie (who previously ran Overlook at the Asheville Outlets) taking over from Clare in the summer. Carrie is keeping the amazing roster of events and drinks going!
Their Instagram is the best place to keep tabs on their next swap and they typically have drop off days for about two weeks before the date of the swap.
Local Cloth
Usually hosting at least one swap a year, Local Cloth is a fabulous nonprofit of fiber artists, farmers, small-scale fiber processors, educators, and fiber enthusiasts. Their store in the River Arts District is full of incredible work by their artists - these are folks who would definitely have cool clothes.
You don't need to bring clothes in order to take some home. Check out their upcoming events page or their Instagram for more details.
Remnants Thrift and Sew
Remnants Thrift & Sew is a nonprofit community sewing space and thrift store in Mars Hill, NC. They hosted their first clothing swap in March of 2024 and have plans for more (maybe even one that's focused on kid's clothes!).
Check out their Instagram for details on upcoming swaps as well as other events like open sew times and sewing/crafting clubs.
Asheville Tool Library
An amazing resource in our community for access to tools, the Tool Library also has a great line up of events. Check out their instagram or events calendar for a line up, including clothing swaps!
The Closetorium
This super cool clothing library opened in 2025 and offers membership access to a rotating selection of outfits through the community. They hosted a costume swap and we think they're one to keep an eye on for future events! Check out their Instagram for more details.
AVL Clothing Swap
We previously offered two clothing swaps a year (hosted at HiWire Rad then The Regeneration Station). We sell tickets in advance of each event, with proceeds going to benefit Planned Parenthood South Atlantic (which includes the Asheville Planned Parenthood clinic).
In our first three years we've raised nearly $15,000 dollars for Reproductive Justice and swapped thousands of cubic feed of clothing. Our swaps usually take place in the spring and early fall, and the best way to be in the know is to subscribe to our email list.

As a huge fan of the show, I appreciate this deep dive into the costumes. The jackets, in particular, are such statement pieces. A genuine Yellowstone Jacket is more than just outerwear; it's a symbol of resilience. I found my perfect piece on the Western Jacket homepage.
